Msc Geothermal Technology

One of the pillars in attaining Kenya’s Vision 2030 is provision of adequate and reliable energy supply. Geothermal has been identified as a potential resource as it is indigenous, plenty and “green”. The geothermal industry relies on a spectrum of professionals with varying technical backgrounds and experience. The course provides relevant, up-to-date skills that will equip both graduates and working professionals in the advanced concepts of sustainable electrical power and energy generation. It offers skills for operation, control, design, regulation and management of power systems and networks of the future. You will also receive training in and understanding of energy production, delivery, consumption and efficiency.

Entry Requirements

A holder of a Bachelor of Science degree of at least second-class honors, upper division, or equivalent qualification which is recognized by the University Senate.


A holder of a Bachelors of Science of an Engineering degree (in any field), with at least second-class honors, upper division, from a recognized University in Engineering disciplines or equivalent qualification in a related field recognized by the university Senate.


A holder of a Bachelor of Science of a Science or Engineering degree, with Second Class honors- Lower division in the Engineering disciplines outlined above and with at least 2 years work experience.


A holder of a Post Graduate Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology from DeKUT, or an equivalent qualification, which is recognized by the University, will join the program in the second year of study.
